When the city closed the fever hospital, ward nine was in the cellar, and the cellar was easier to brick up than to empty. The beds are still made. The charts are still filled in, in a neat hand, right up to the last night.

You start your shift with a lamp and a list of nine names. Check on each patient. Don’t skip a bed.

Ward Nine is louder and faster than The Lodger, with long stretches in total darkness. An actor may take your arm to lead you; tell the porter at the start if you’d rather they didn’t.

Walk-throughs, tickets, safety and the bar

Evening. Ask me about the walk-throughs and how frightening they are, age limits, the safe word, group bookings, the bar or how to find the door.
